Maturity (Story Vessel)

My story vessel is the shape of a baby bottle and the designs on it are baby feet, a butterfly, numbers (123), and the word maturity. The reason behind this piece is that we start off as babies and mature as we grow. We can use the analogy of taking baby steps and blossoming into a butterfly. The butterfly represents growth and the feet represents a journey to growth. The numbers represent the smallest ages because those are usually the ones were we begin to learn and see things. I also carved in a face on there to symbolize imagination. The overall story is development of maturity and growth because that's is what shapes us in one way.

Project of Choice

This was my project of choice and I choose to do a Halloween themed because it was October. I choose to do this doing the pinch pot method. I did a pumpkin with a cat and a snake with eggs. You can also see the lines I did and stitches.

Slab Box

This is my slab box that I remade due to my last one exploding. This project to me was confusing yet a bit difficult when it came to putting the walls together but I can honestly say that making this taught me a lot as a newly slab user. 

Slab 3 Footed Cylinder

This is my 3 footed cylinder and the difficulty I found in doing this project was putting it together. As you can see my slab does slant a bit and that was due to the issue I had. Overall, this project was fun to make and challenged me and my abilities. 

Alebrije

For my alebrije I decided to do a turtle because this was my cousin's favorite animal. I truly enjoyed making this and I also really enjoyed making the designs on the turtle! You can also see numbers on the turtle's flippers and that is the day I lost my cousin. As for the designs I kind of just went with the flow and added as I went.

Sgrafitto Six-Word Memoir Pinch Pot

This was first time ever making a pinch pot and the difficulty found in this project to me was maintaining the same thickness throughout. As you can see I also have words and drawings around and that is my memoir.  I went more with the theme of success because I hope to graduate and go to college for makeup and social working. The butterfly in the middle signifies growth and development.

Coil Pot

 For my coil pot project, I decided to do a beehive and paint it a bright yellow. I decided to add a bee and a pattern of balls in between the coils but as you can see I only did that twice in the coils. I feel that I successfully did this but making the coils was a bit of a challenge because they would crack in the making.
