Tempra Batik

This is my tempra batik. For my tempra batik I decided to do a mermaid tail but instead if putting the scales on the tale, I put them as a background. I can I put effort in this even though it's incomplete.

For the project I choose a model from Pinterest. As you can see I did struggle on it but I'm proud of the effort I put into it.

Subtractive Plaster

This is my finishing product of my subtractive plaster. I choose to do a camera because I figured it would be creative and simple. I carved in the button and I also carved a picture of a tree so when you look at the camera you see a picture that was taken. Although, I do wish that I would've been more detailed and add more description.

Critique: Devastated Women After Losing Loved One At War

This painting looks like a woman just lost her loved in a war that he apparently fought in. In the back I can see fire breaking out and the dark smoke being born due to the fire. I can also see how the ground looks muddy with no grass in sight. But what stands out is the women crying desperately while holding the body in her arms.
In  the painting I have noticed some element and principles such as emphasis, texture, and in the back I detected some cell phone towers or at least that's what I see. This painting demonstrates emphasis because it automatically caught my eye when I saw the women holding the dead soldier. I did not only spot emphasis but I also caught texture and lines in the painting, the artist uses texture to give it to the ground and the background while on the other hand he  used lines to shape the  cell phone towers. The colors seen a are mostly neutral colors.
I have observed this painting and while looking at it I felt heartbroken, beastly, sorry, and unfortunate. This women now has to feel the absent of this tragedy, she will wake up every day knowing her loved ones presence won't be felt or seen. I can not feel her pain but what I can say is I have lost a loved one and not feeling there presence is heartbreaking. This art is clearly trying to point out the death of this soldier who fought in war and let it be seen that it is painful but it takes a lot of bravery to fight in battles especially if you know your are risking your life every second.
This painting is very descriptive but  I feel like the artist could've add more wounded soldiers and  people around them honoring their courage. I have to admit I questioned myself when I saw those cell phone towers, that's if that's what they are. Overall I can truly say this painting is amazing and outstanding. The artist put emotion and sympathy in the painting and made it speak for itself.
